Posi-Joists, also known as metal web joists or engineered joists, offer the perfect combination of timber’s lightness and steel’s strength, creating a versatile floor and roof truss system that spans much greater distances compared to other timber options. Their open-web structure makes it simple to route services like plumbing and electrics without needing alterations. The speed of which they can be installed is second to none, cutting labour costs dramatically and often making them more economical than solid joist alternatives. No drilling, notching or cutting needed—simply fit into place, route your services and continue with more important things. Posi-Joists can be used for both roof and floor joist structures and are designed specifically for your project using our talented in-house design team.
💪 Strength: Their main benefit lies in their inherent strength and stiffness. Thanks to the clever combination of timber and steel in their design, Posi-Joists can span greater distances than solid timber, reducing or even eliminating the need for load-bearing walls or steel beams. Posi-Joists are also available in a range of depths—you can specify these yourself or we can work out which will be most cost-effective for your project.

🚽 Service Routing: Thanks to their open-web structure, Posi-Joists can accommodate various services without modification. With solid joists, an installer would have to drill, cut and hack away material, potentially limiting their strength and performance. Posi-Joists allow, in theory, an infinite amount of paraphernalia to be installed through the joists.

🏋️‍♂️ Weight: Posi-Joists use less material to achieve the same strength as solid timber, making them significantly lighter. This is a major advantage if you're working on a site that can't accommodate a crane or if you want to avoid the associated costs.

🔨 Ease of installation: Posi-Joists are manufactured to the size of your building and can be simply dropped into place. If your building isn't perfectly straight (which, let's be honest, most old buildings aren't), Posi-Joists can be supplied with trimmable ends.

✏️ Quality: Posi-Joists are designed in specialist software and produced under factory-controlled conditions, ensuring an unmatched level of quality every time.

🏡 No shrinkage: Posi-Joists don't suffer from shrinkage or distortion, a typical cause for a squeaky floor.

We have some of the best toys in the industry. We have invested over £2.5M in our brand new facility and have used almost 20 years of manufacturing experience to ensure it does exactly what we want. It’s the secret to turning your project around in as little as 5 days, no matter what the complexity. We run two Hundegger saws from Germany. These saws are truly incredible, allowing us to cut the timber for your project at an astonishing pace whilst achieving pin-point accuracy. The saws are fed directly from our design office and will optimise the use of every length of timber for minimal waste. Similarly to trusses, the timber components are cut and moved to one of our posi presses. Our skilled assemblers will then set out the timbers of your posi joist on the press. The timbers are then clamped by the press to ensure they are perfectly straight and the correct depth is maintained. The steel webs are then accurately positioned in place and pressed, completing the posi-joist.

All of our trusses and joists are made from TR26 timber. TR26 timber is a high-performance, engineered wood that combines exceptional strength and versatility, making it a top choice for demanding structural applications. It’s specifically graded to ensure consistent quality and reliability, with the ability to withstand heavy loads and offer long-lasting durability. TR26 timber is often used in the construction of roof trusses, floor joists, and other key structural elements, where its strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to wear and decay make it a standout choice. Whether in residential or commercial projects, TR26 provides peace of mind and reliability, ensuring a solid, secure foundation for any build.

On top of this, all of our timber is PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified, meaning when you purchase trusses or joists from us, you're contributing to the health of the woodland that provides our timber. This includes replanting trees when others are felled, ensuring wildlife is cared for and those working in the woodland are paid fairly.

How does ordering work?

After you've placed your order, we'll give you a ring to confirm your measurements, delivery location, delivery dates/times and any other essential pieces of information before we begin manufacturing your products. This gives you some time to let us know if anything needs changing before it's too late. Once you're fully happy and have given us the go-ahead, we'll begin manufacturing your joists ready to be delivered for your specified date.

Can I supply more measurements?
