An attic truss fixes the main issue with standard roof trusses—the lack of habitable space. The internal webs that support your roof with a standard fink truss also prevent the attic from being made into a room, however, an attic truss removes the internal webs and uses greater timber sizes elsewhere to provide you with a habitable room. This extra room in your attic can become a bedroom, office, bathroom, office or just a storage space, and vastly increases your home's overall floor space. As well as this, they can increase property values and reduce heat loss through the roof, making them a valuable choice for any homeowner. Attic trusses cost more upfront but will pay themselves back in the long run. All trusses are made from structural grade TR26 timber and as standard are not treated.

Timber Grade: TR26
Timber Size: 47mm
Treatment: Only required in areas marked on this map. Treatment is a pesticide to protect against the House Longhorn Beetle and does not offer weather protection.

When you order trusses online, you'll also receive all necessary clips and bracing timber, detailed drawings, a virtual 3D model to work from and calculations that you can submit to building control. Gable ladders are not included but can be added above.

Step 1: Measure Your Building

You can use our helpful video to learn how to measure your building ready for trusses. If you're unsure, give us a ring and we'll talk you through it. It only takes a few minutes.

Step 2: Place Your Order

Select your span, pitch and overhang (if required), then add any drawings you might have. Don't worry if you don't have any—we'll contact you if we need more information.

Step 3: We'll Phone You & Send a Design

Before even looking in the direction of a saw, we'll give you a ring to check all your measurements are correct. If everything looks good, we'll then send you our design for you to have a look through. If you need to make any amendments, we're always happy to do this.

Step 4: We'll Begin Manufacturing & Arrange Delivery

Once you've confirmed your order, we can begin manufacturing your trusses. One of our team will be in contact to arrange delivery on a day that suits you.

What Are The Benefits of Attic Trusses?

🏡 Habitable Space: Unlike a fink truss, an attic truss is specifically designed to provide a habitable room in its structure. This increases space, energy efficiency and often property value too.

⏰ Fast to Install: Attic Trusses can be delivered and installed the next day, if not the same day, allowing you to get your site water tight faster and reducing timber taking up space.

📋 Building Control Compliant: When you order attic trusses from us, we also provide the necessary calculations to send to building control, making the process as smooth as possible.

Designing Your Attic Trusses

Once we receive your order, it will be assigned to one of our MiTek trained designers, like Barry here. They will look at the details you've supplied, along with any plans, and create a bespoke design in our specialist software. This design includes calculations that you can send to building control, ensuring the process is as simple yet comprehensive as possible, along with a virtual 3D model. We'll email you this design for you to check and approve before manufacturing anything.

Manufacturing Your Attic Trusses

Now that the design has been approved, it gets sent to our factory, where our saws cut the timber to the correct lengths in a matter of minutes. Our skilled assemblers are then given the reigns to construct the attic trusses. We use a laser system that's fed from the design office to align the trusses perfectly to your specifications.

Delivering Your Attic Trusses

Finally, we will send you a proposed delivery date and rough time, load the trusses onto one of our vehicles and deliver to you in as little as 5 working days. Our in-house team of drivers gives us far more flexibility if you need to give us some last minute info, like where to park, any road closures or any unexpected delays. See some of the truss projects we've been part of here.

FAQs

Can I supply more measurements?

Yes—either use the 'order special instructions' box in the basket or send us an email with any specific requirements you may have.

What are your delivery options?

We can deliver trusses, joists or glulam in as little as 5-10 working days. The price for delivery depends on your location, which can range from being free to £250. We will ring you after you've placed your order to confirm which day you'd like us to deliver on using our own fleet of vehicles.

For metalwork, it'll be delivered in 1-3 working days using a courier service and costs £20. If spending more than £250 on metalwork, delivery is free.

Are clips and bracing timber included?

Yes—we'll calculate the correct amount and include these in the price you pay above.

Do I need a structural engineer?

No, you don't need a structural engineer. We will design the roof truss and provide you with the necessary structural calculations for building control.

Are your products treated?

As standard, trusses are not treated. Treatment is only necessary if you live in the red marked areas on this map. The treatment is a pesticide to protect against the House Longhorn Beetle and is not a preservative. This treatment does not allow the trusses to be exposed to the elements.
